There is just one problem.
Light switch on off reversed.
If the lamp fails to light at all check the wiring between the fuse and switch.
I had to install it upside down for it to turn the lights on in the up position.
To replace a reversing light switch disconnect the wiring and either unscrew the switch or if a locknut is used release this.
Off is on on is off.
Look at the switch.
Went to home depot and bought new dimmer boucht cfl compatible dimmer as tried cfl floods before and they only lasted a few weeks hooked up same way as before.
I have a problem wiring the 3way switches in my hallway.
Wiring 3way switches electrical question.
Took picture and my wife double checked 3 black wires on top right.
It dims the cree led bulbs great.
Dimmer in kitchen 5 dimmable flood lights went out.
Replace the switch in reverse order then.
Forgive my ignorance is this a case of face plate being put on upside down or are they wired wrong.
The black wire is the hot wire the one you should never touch with the power on.
The only way to change the orientation of whether it is on or off is by physically reversing the switch.
Fourth this is in fact the way the switch has always worked.
If the lamp only lights on one terminal the switch is either broken or needs adjusting.
No matter how i install the wires the switch always tuns off in wrong position.
Next never do any wiring unless you c.
Never touch any wire with the power on and use a meter to double check they are all off before touching anything.
I have two 3way switches in the hallway.
But you are describing a three way switch and the other one was used to turn the light on or off which reversed the function of the one you usually use.
Either switch can turn the light on or off.
If i turn on the light at one end of the hall then turn it off at the other end i cannot turn the light back on at the other end where the switch is already in the on position.
The dimmer is marked up and the has two terminals on the right side plus a wire at the top for ground.
Any help greatly appreciated.
You can reverse the wires and it will work exactly the same way.
If it is a single pole and not a decora style it should have on and off printed on it and would be impossible to reverse the function.
If this is the case perhaps the other switch is seldom used and it has been used once and effectively reversed the switch you commonly use.
